This is a photograph of Jefferson's Main Street in 1903. George Miller, from the Pennepec, Pennsylvania, came to the area and settled in 1760. A Miller family store was in the area during the period 1810 to 1819. The Town was incorporated in 1901 and was named Jefferson for Thomas Jefferson.

Jefferson Bank is shown here in the 1920s. Two banks operated at different times in this building, the Jefferson Bank and then the Jefferson Depository. The present Bank of Jefferson came into existence in 1946, but it is not housed in this building.
